Basically I have reflux and end up aspirating, it's gone down the windpipe and I'm choking. I wake up literally gasping for air, feeling as if I can't get any in. I finally start coughing, and then have coughing off an on for a good 20 min. or so. I've reached the point where I know what foods and drinks will generally cause this to happen, and how early I have to stop eating/drinking anything but water to not run a risk of this at all. It still happens from time to time, but not nearly as often. When it does happen my first thoughts on waking is usually that I'm dying. Really.
